Infrabuild Newcastle
It´s no secret that Newcastle (Australia) is the largest exporter of coal in the world.
Considering that it was just a matter of time when the first integrated plant will be set up. The decision was made 1913 by BHP company. The ore was supplied from Whyalla, South Australia.
Production of pig iron and converter steel continued without interruption until 1999. Following the demise of BHP, the rod mill, wire mill and pipe welding plant continue to operate under the newly created OneSteel flag.
OneSteel was acquired by businessman Sanjeev Gupta in 2017 to form Liberty Onesteel, which later became Infrabuild Newcastle.
