Paralloy Saint-Dizier
Founded in 1869 in Saint-Dizier by Félix Hachette and Adolphe Driout, Hachette & Driout began as a copper foundry and metalworking company. In 1880, the business moved to its present site on Avenue du Général Sarrail, where a new factory was built. The steel foundry was added around 1890, establishing the company as an important specialist producer of cast steel.
Over the following decades, Hachette & Driout developed expertise in large and complex steel castings for demanding industries including energy, railways, mining and construction. A major modernisation came with construction of a new foundry production unit in 2008.
Today, production is supported by two meltshops. The larger meltshop comprises two 8-tonne induction furnaces and an 8-tonne AOD converter, while the second has two 4-tonne induction furnaces and a 4-tonne AOD converter. This configuration combines electric melting with AOD refining, enabling the production of controlled-composition stainless and alloy steels.
Following financial restructuring, Hachette & Driout was acquired by Paralloy Group in 2026 and became part of its Manoir France operations.
