Europe´s smallest coking plant was founded in 1948 at the confluence of the Nalón and Trubia rivers.
Its current appearance reflects the situation from the 1970s and 1990s, when the original battery was replaced by new batteries together with a pair of coal bunkers.
Since 2002 the coking plant is part of the Roces group and is one of the major European suppliers of foundry coke.
