Fergusul Ferro Gusa Sustentável
One of the smallest charcoal blast furnaces in Brazil can be found in the north-eastern suburb of Divinópolis.
The first ironworks with one 56m³ blast furnace and a foundry was established here in the mid-1940s. In 1979, the company ´Siderúrgica Delta´ was founded and operated the works until its bankruptcy in 1998. Shortly afterwards, the production of pig iron was taken over by ´Ferdil Produtos Metalúrgicos´.
Since 2015, the ironworks has been operated by ´Fergusul Ferro Gusa Sustentável´, with an annual pig iron production of around 45 000 tonnes.
