The tradition of metallurgical production in Trith-Saint-Legér is dating back to 1875, when the first ironworks were founded by the businessman César Sirot.
Rapid development followed during the twentieth century, until the steelworks became part of the Usinor group in 1975. In 1978, the bar rolling mill was put into operation.
In 1988, the plant was named "Laminés Marchands Européens" and its shareholders were Usinor Sacilor - Unimetal, Cockerill-Sambre and Arbed.
After privatization in 1994, the Beltrame Group became the majority owner and some major investments followed.
First - the new smaller-profile rolling mill in 2001 and the new electric arc furnace in 2001.
