Union Electric Åkers
Although the very first cylinder was manufactured here in 1806 "already", the history of local metallurgy dates back to the 16th century, when Åkers Styckebruk had started writing the history as the artillery cannon production center.
At the beginning of 1917 a modern blast furnace was built here, which was in operation until 1957.
In 1974, Åkers Styckebruk became part of Bofors group.
The new centrifugal "Foundry 77" was built during 1977.
In 1985, Åkers AB became an independent company and was merged with Union Electric Steel Corporation in 2016.
