Infrabuild Sydney steel plant
The steeply rising demand for construction and structural steel led the BHP Group to decission to build a modern mini-mill right on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia.
This happened in 1992 and soon after the first bar left the hot rolling mill.
In 2000 BHP was spun off into OneSteel. Nowadays the plant belongs to the Infrabuild group, which produces around 750,000 tonnes of recycled steel per year.
