Acciaierie Venete Odolo - bar mill
The Italian town of Odolo, which in 1978 was described by the Financial Times as the "miracle of Brescia", had at one time up to 13 steelworks and rolling mills with an annual capacity almost one million tonnes of steel. This is quite unprecedented by any European standards.
Steel production and processing continues in Odol today, albeit in slightly more limited form.
One of the rolling mills that continues this famous tradition is the former ´Acciaierie e Ferriere Leali Luigi´, founded in 1954 by the brothers Dario and Nicola Leali, sons of Paolo Leali, who had started producing agricultural tools in Odol in the second half of the 19th century already.
The Leali family ran the bar rolling mill until 2015, when it was taken over by the Swiss Klesch Group, from which it was purchased by the Acciaierie Venete group.
