Lazy mine

Lazy mine

The construction of the largest and most modern mine of its time began in 1890 with the so-called New Pit. Mining started in full swing in 1892.

The colliery was renamed the Antonín Zápotocký Mine in 1950.
The new skip pit No. 6 was dug in 1973.

In 1991 the plant was renamed to the Lazy Mine and in 1995 it was merged with the Dukla and František mines within the OKD group.
Following the decline in coal prices on world markets and increasing coal imports from Poland, the management board decided to terminate the mining operations in 2018.

The last mining cart was pulled out on 28th November 2019.
Demolition of the entire site began shortly afterwards.
