Rako mine is the last active deep clay mine in the Czech Republic.

The coal had been mined here since early 19th century, however it was replaced by discovery of more profitable clay later.
Rako mine was established in 1919 and reached depth around 100 meters. Together with ventilation pit 1. Máj (deepened in 1952) is still active today. Recently, however, the surface mining in near quarry begins to dominate.
