puits Simon

Puits Simon was named after former director of "Compagnie des Houilleres de Petite-Rosselle" Guillaume Simon. Pit no.1 was founded in 1904 and the headframe installed in 1905.
Throughout the long mining history the site undergo several modernisations and extensions. The only former buildings from early 20th century are the compressor room, headframe above pit no.1 and the engine room.
The coal extraction was terminated in 1997. Site is abandoned since that time, future uncertain.
