Poldi Kladno

Poldi Hütte was established in 1889 in close neighbourhood with former Vojtech steelworks in Kladno, Czech Republic. Founded by industrialist Karl Wittgenstein, father of famous philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein.

In 1908 the very first electrical arc furnace in whole Austro-Hungarian Empire was put in operation here and in 1915 Frick´s furnace, former largest induction furnace in the world was tapped for the first time.

New history commenced on 1st October 2009. Electric steel mill was completely refurbished and brand new forge was constructed.

Today Poldi operates one 30 ton electri arc furnace, two forging presses and a rapid forging machine.
