Hamorform Industry in Vlăhița, Romania, carries forward a remarkable metallurgical tradition dating back to 1825, when the town’s first iron furnace began operating.
Built around local iron ore, forests and the power of the Homorodul Mic River, Vlăhița developed into an important centre of ironworking. Its historic hydraulic forge continued operating until 1990 and is regarded as a unique surviving example of its kind in Europe.
Today, Hamorform Industry represents a new chapter in this industrial heritage. Established in 2018 by taking over former casting division of Metallurgica Vlahita S.A, the company specializes in grey iron casting, continuing Vlăhița’s long-standing connection with metal production. From the water-powered forges of the nineteenth century to modern foundry production, the story of Vlăhița remains one of continuity, adaptation and craftsmanship.
