Gustav Grimm Edelstahlwerk

The forge on the northern outskirts of Remscheid belongs to the sixth generation of the Grimm family. The family founded the first hammer mill here in 1878 and produced the knife steel.

As the water in the hammer often froze during the winter, the first 200 kg steam hammer was put into operation in 1898.

In 1906 the production was further expanded with forged steel bars on a new 800 kg hammer.
The new forging plant was built in 1976 and consists of two presses with a capacity of 3200t and 800t. The 3200t press was delivered in 2020 by SMS group.
