Horní Slavkov was known for its tin mining over 750 years what´s making this area one of the oldest in Europe.
After intensive ore extraction during two world wars a newage history started in early 60´s by deeping Stannum mine (today only partly demolished ore concentrator has left).

But Vilem mine is monument a bit older. Built in 1916 and active till 1920. Than only as a supplementary pit of Stannum mine.

The site is freely accessible within local mining museum. An electrical winding engine Siemens from 1947 is worth a visit.
