The decission to built a modern steel making facility on the plain fields near Kladno was made in 1971. The construction of electric steel mill with two 100t EAFs, 4 strand continuous caster and following billet and middle-section mill started a year after only.

Today only the billet rolling mill is still active with 4 double-chamber soaking pits, two walking beam furnaces, 1160mm blooming stand, and three in a row 850mm billet stands. The electric steel plant was closed down and demolished in 2003.

Since 2002 the rolling mill is owned by Trinecke zelezarny company.
