King Wilhelm II. pit was deepened in 1899 and salt was extracted here until 1999. 3,7 km long tunnel was broken through in 1984 and connected this site with salzwerk Heilbronn besides it´s closing. Today is the pit partly demolished, partly opened for visitors as a salt mine museum
