Phoenix-West Hütte

Miserable and degrading end is passing through at slowly dissappearing ironworks Phoenix-West in Dortmund.

Iron and steel producing site, whose history began in 1841 under the name of "Hermannshütte" and suffered many fundamental changes until today, were definitely shut down in 2001. Neighbouring coke plant was demolished completely, the most modern blast furnace was dismantled and transported to China for following restart and the couple of bf no.5 and 6 is waiting for similar destiny as ARBED Esch-Belval , then purely decorative monument within new office and logistic center.
