SIDERCA Călăraşi, blast furnace no.1

Calarasi blast furnace in the middle of southeastern romanian flatlands and deserted fields was built in 1989 but never started. The project was counting with two identical blast furnaces, coke plant and modern steel mill, nevertheless due to corruption and dramatic politics changes the whole site was abandoned unfinished.

Until 90´s the blast furnace body served for Galati plant spare parts. Now ruined and heavily guarded as a money waste monument
