The entrepreneur František Janeček built the first foundry with a forge on the land between the railway line and the Sázava River during the years of 1930 and 1931. The original intention to involve hisc plant in the armaments programme, despite the plan to produce sewing machines first, ended up with a focus on Jawa motorcycles components.
The plant was massively expanded and modernised until nationalisation in 1945. After 1949, the foundry became independent under the name Metaz (Metalurgicke zavody, and the main product became components for the automotive and aerospace industries.
Metaz Týnec a.s. currently focuses on the production of steel castings for casting machines.
