Once the largest coking plant worldwide was constructed between 1957 - 1961 by german architect Fritz Schupp.
During the decades maximum coke production increased up to respectful 10.500 tons per day. However due to inconvenient situation of the heavy industry sector in 90´s the plant was shutdown for good in 1993.
In 2001 the whole complex was listed as one of UNESCO heritage sites.
