Metinvest Trametal - heavy plate mill

Metinvest Trametal’s origins trace back to the mid-1990s when the company began operating a heavy plate mill in San Giorgio di Nogaro, Italy, after acquiring the production plant from Metallurgica San Giorgio in 1994.

Between 2001 and 2003 Trametal expanded its market reach beyond Italy into Germany, Austria and the UK and commissioned a new quarto rolling mill supplied by DANIELI to increase capacity.

In February 2008, Ukrainian metals group Metinvest acquired Trametal, integrating the heavy plate mill into its steel and rolled products division and linking it to Metinvest’s slab supply and broader European distribution network. Under Metinvest ownership, the mill modernised further with investments in finishing lines
Today the San Giorgio facility is among Europe’s advanced plate producers with an annual capacity of around 600 000 tonnes.
