Saxony-Anhalt region Helbra was famous copper mining locality for over 150 years. Only three not very known but architecturally important monuments has left today in the folded by dumps landscape.
The first one, Schmid-Schacht was deepened in 1844 and put in operation in 1860. The winding pulleys on top of the headframe were turning until the beginning of 90´s in last century.
